Talk about a cool, emotional shoot! There’s a bunch of football fans here at K2 Productions, and we had a blast filming San Francisco 49ers’ Marcus Lattimore to promote Verizon’s NFL Mobile App and NFL Mobile Draft App.
Marcus Lattimore, Duncan, SC, native and former USC running back, was expected to be huge in the upcoming NFL draft. But tragedy happened for a second time — he broke his leg. It was captured on film, so there was a ton of press. But the major coverage started when Marcus announced that he would come back. His story is truly amazing — a story of talent, determination, and a need to stay connected.
We collaborated with PACE Communications on this project and got some great hometown B-roll footage, including weight room shots of Marcus training. We conducted interviews, met his family, went to the church where he grew up, and talked with his James F. Byrnes High School football coach, Bobby Bentley. We even filmed some football memoirs from his childhood room and arranged to shoot in Gamecock Stadium, which was pretty awesome.
Marcus was lucky to have really grounded parents, including a mom who’s been to every game since he was seven! It was great to discover what a cool kid he was, how he enjoys giving back to his community, and what a great person he’s become today.
Marcus ended up being a great vehicle for Verizon’s connectedness theme. Being connected — to his family, his coaches, his team, and South Carolina — has remained an essential part of Marcus’ life. Not matter where he goes in the draft, no matter what’s happening to him, no matter how successful he is, he always stays connected to his roots.
We enjoy following Marcus’ career with Verizon’s NFL Mobile App and NFL Mobile Draft App, and we’ve even liked his Facebook page to keep up. Good luck, Marcus!
