Washington, D.C. Video Production

K2 Productions was delighted to film with our friends from The House in Washington, D.C. The incredible non-profit philanthropic organization is an ongoing client of ours and reached out to us to capture a documentary-style video of The HANGRY truck, their new mobile kitchen and food truck. The truck services lower income areas of greater Washington DC in an effort to help close the hunger gap. We jumped at the opportunity to support them and capture dynamic footage to create an engaging, informative marketing tool for The House, Inc to get the word out about their life-changing services. This group and their truck are really spectacular. Not only do they provide groceries and hot food for local residents in need, it gives students and former students of The House, Inc. a chance to make a positive impact and give back to their community. In order to capture The HANGRY Truck and the selfless services it provides we headed out to the streets to follow it on its mission.
Most areas of Washington, D.C. are a “no fly zone” so drone shots were limited and we needed to get creative to get some incredible footage to include in this video. Our small, yet efficient, crew shot this piece documentary style on the go using our Easy Rig and Sony Fs7 II and our Ronin and Sony FX3. To get some amazing moving shots of the truck, we pulled out our GoPro and attached it directly to the truck itself.
The weather didn’t cooperate the entire weekend while we were there so we had the idea to move the truck indoors. Our talented director and video crew styled and skillfully lit The House, Inc.’s warehouse to showcase the truck as well as the many youth volunteers. We were also able to use this styled backdrop for interviews with The House, Inc. Founder and President, Helen McCormick and her son, The House, Inc. Executive Director, Tom McCormick. They spoke to us about the importance of closing the hunger gap in the Greater Washington, D.C. area and how their students and alumnus are paving the way to make change through this anti-hunger initiative. Through additional interviews, current and former students of The House, Inc. shared how this program has impacted them and why they are enjoying the opportunity to pay it forward.
The final video was edited to be used on their website as well as social media channels to get the word out about their anti-hunger initiative. This is truly an amazing organization and we are honored to partner with them to get the word out about their many programs to improve the lives of greater Washington, D.C. youth.
