K2 Philadelphia Video Production Company collaborated with PACE Communications to produce the Verizon Innovator Series featuring Navarrow Wright. The video series focuses on Innovators and how they use technology to excel. We documented a day in the life of Navarrow capturing his demanding yet rewarded schedule.
Navarrow Wright has emerged as one of the distinctive and insightful voices in America and a premier expert on how the convergence of technology, the Internet, mass media and social media can change lives, businesses and society.
Today, Navarrow Wright is the CTO of Interactive One, Interactive One is a digital and print media company focusing on the African-American and urban market. As CTO Wright is responsible for the technical strategy of all the Interactive One online properties which include Hellobeautiful, The UrbanDaily, NewsOne, Elev8 and BlackPlanet. He is also responsible for the technical management of the Radio One Network’s radio sites. He is currently leading the development of the new version of the iconic social network BlackPlanet. BlackPlanetNext.com which is now live in open Beta.
Wright also founded Maximum Leverage Solutions, a firm that delivers Internet, social media and technology strategy consulting. Prior to launching Maximum Leverage, he joined Russell Simmons in co-founding Global Grind.com, a social media site that caters to the hip-hop perspective and gives creative entrepreneurs a place to monetize and showcase their content.
Previously, Wright was SVP of Technology for Medical Broadcasting Company, a division of the Internet marketing leader Digitas. Earlier, he was CTO of Viacom’s BET Interactive, where he helped make BET.com the leading entertainment online destination for African Americans. Growing the site’s audience 300% during his time there.
Wright recently launched the “Close the divide for Me” project. Wight’s vision for the initiative is build awareness among underserved communities (minorities and women) about the opportunities that technology can provide in key areas such as Education, Healthcare, Career growth and Entrepreneurship. The idea was birthed during his various speaking engagements where he started to realize the key issue that is allowing the digital divide to continue to exists is audience perception or a lack of. People do not see the value in these opportunities so they do not pursue them, the mainstream world perceives us to just not be interested or less inclined to succeed in the digital space so they don’t many efforts to bring more of us in. So the new “digital divide” is more dangerous than the original because now in most cases we do have the access, we are just not taking advantage of it. Wright firmly believes that if something is not done to include us in the digital evolution now, we will never catch up. After the CNN documentary he received and continues to receive emails for him to come discuss this topic with various groups. But he wanted to do more, so he decided to create something that would allow him to reach as many people as possible and put a face to this issue and Close The Divide.
With more than 18-years experience in the technology and media industry, Wright has established himself as someone who can conceptualize and develop advanced technology solutions for leading global organizations. Wright’s unique understanding of the Internet space and ability to marry those technical advances with consumer demand has placed him as one of the premier technology experts in Internet and media. He prides himself on showing youth how technology can be an enabler to help them achieve their dreams. He speaks to youth groups up and down the east coast for various organizations and was recently given a commendation from the city of Newark for his work with events that have a positive impact on young people. He has made it mission to be a voice for technology adoption in underserved areas and that entrepreneurial spirit is developed in urban youth.

He was picked by Network Journal Magazine as of the their “ 40 Under forty” professionals to watch in 2009 and selected by the Innovation Generation as one of the nation’s top 100 GenerationNEXT and Information Technology leaders. He recently took part in the CNN Black in America series, which aired on November 13th 2011 and focused on blacks in technology. He was also picked By Black Enterprise Magazine for their “Next Steve Jobs list: The 10 people to watch in Technology” He has been invited to the White house on several occasions for be involved in discussions on how policy changes can help with technology adoption and is considered an expert on the convergence of technology and media. Wright was selected to be a part of Verizon’s “Celebrate Our Stories” campaign where Verizon chooses influential African Americas to share their keys to success, celebrate their achievements and share your own tips for a better tomorrow.
